Wonders of Dental Implants

The development of dental implants is a relatively new concept, and many people consider the process to be the perfect answer to tooth replacement. While the procedure is much more complicated than placing a crown or a bridge, the fact that the results are usually permanent is particularly attractive. Not everyone is a good candidate for implant surgery because of issues with inadequate bone density or a compromised immune system. Dental implant recipients must be committed to diligent and continued oral hygiene to ensure the long life of their implant.

Dental implants are constructed of a synthetic biocompatible material and they look and feel identical to the natural tooth or teeth they are replacing. An implant is anchored to the jawbone using metal posts, screws or a metal framework that acts as a foundation for a permanent bridge. Dentures may even be attached to an implant in certain cases.

Since surgery is necessary to place the implant, it is essential that the recipient be closely monitored following the procedure. A certain period of time is required to allow bone tissue to build up around the device and provide adequate support. Antibiotics may be prescribed if the patient is at risk for infection.

  1. As someone who used to work the front of a root canal specialist, you always try to keep your natural teeth as long as possible. However, if they go, get implants, especially if it's a back tooth. Front teeth are obviously for cosmetic reasons, but if a grinding toot has nothing to grind on, it too might start giving the person trouble.

  3. Dental implants look and feel like your own teeth. And because they are designed to fuse with bone, they become permanent. So its a good dental treatment if someone is suffering from dental problem.
