New parents want to do everything possible to protect their
baby in the event of an accident. Luckily, there are products available to help
parents achieve this goal.
For a parent, there is nothing like the first car ride with
a baby. Every bump in the road is momentous and scary. New parents should
consider taking their car in for a complete tune-up before the baby arrives. A
car should be in top working order before transporting such precious cargo. At the
very least, purchasing new tires, such as Cooper tires online at http://simpletire.com, will give parents the
peace of mind that comes with knowing their car is as safe as possible.
A high quality car seat is the most important car-related
baby purchase a parent can make. While there are many areas where buying second
hand is both smart and economical, a car seat is not one of them. A car seat
that has been in an accident may be structurally compromised, even if it looks
fine. Additionally, new technology makes car seats safer each year. This is why
it is a wise idea to purchase a new car seat to ensure a baby's safety in the
event of an accident.
It is extremely important for a baby to be firmly secured in
their car seat. However, as the infant car seat straps are tightened, they can
rub or even cut a baby's tender skin. While it may be tempting to loosen the
straps or place a blanket between the straps and the baby, there is a better
solution. Padded seat belt strap covers, available in a variety of whimsical
designs, are washable and durable.
A properly secured safety mirror, allows parents to see
their baby during that important first year when they are in a rear-facing car
seat. It is not safe to turn around while driving and pulling to the side of
the road to check on the baby is not always possible. The ability to see their
child at a glance allows parents to focus on driving instead of worrying about
their child.
A lightweight, retractable sunshade that attaches to the
inside of a back window will protect a baby’s skin from the sun. This is
especially important since they are unable to move or shield themselves.
Parents residing in a sunny climate may wish to purchase two shades, so their
baby is protected on both sides.
Thank you so very much for posting this. My good friend is due to have her first baby any day and I don't have a child so I didn't have any good tips for this. What a wonderful idea. I'm going to share this with her. Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteVery informative post, thank you. The sunshade is a great tip.

I cant help but notice that they very young baby in the photo is forword facing...
ReplyDeleteHowever I completly agree that the carseat is probably the one baby purchase that should never be made secondhand
This is a great post for a new parent. I have an hour commute to work and my kids go to day care near by so a good quality car seat is a must for us. My favorite tip is adding the seat belt covers to protect the baby's skin. These would also be good for my toddler and preschooler. Great post!

This is a great post to help ensure your precious cargo is safe. Do all these things, then try to drive as defensively as possible, easier said than done nowadays.
