Invest in Childproofing Measures
Toddlers have a knack for getting into things that they shouldn’t as soon as you turn your back. Childproofing your home means that everything unsafe needs to be kept under lock and key. When your toddler is first starting to become mobile, you can contain them in an inflatable pool during playtime. This can buy you a little more time to get your home ready. Invest in baby gates and create a play room that doesn’t have anything breakable or hazardous.
Replace Your Flooring
Carpeting in your home isn’t very practical during the toddler and early childhood years. Spills and other types of messes are going to occur on a daily basis. You may find yourself spending hours each week trying to get these ground in stains and spills out. Replace your carpeting with mosaic tiles or hardwood flooring throughout your home. These options are much more cleanable when you have kids. Clean up becomes a breeze because all you have to do is wipe up the mess.
Purchase High-Energy Toys
Trampolines and other toys that encourage your toddler to be active work wonders. This allows them to focus their energy in another way that doesn’t involve destroying your home. It also helps them to sleep better at night so that you can rest undisturbed. When they’ve exhausted themselves physically, have games that are mentally stimulating. This two-part approach can keep them entertained for hours so that you can take a break.
Toothpaste Cleaner
It’s inevitable that you may end up with markers or crayons on places that you don’t want in your home. Toothpaste makes a very effective cleaner when it comes to getting these things off of your walls and flooring. Make it a game with your toddler. Have them help you clean up the mess since toothpaste in small doses isn’t harmful to them like other cleaners. They can learn the value of helping you around the house and about cleaning up after themselves.
Rambunctious toddlers require that you come up with creative ways to dispel their energy. When the weather is nice, outside time can save the inside of your home. For those cold and dreary days, use these tips to help you survive.
Flooring isa HUGE thing. Hardwood is fanastic if you can afford it, ut also invest in nn slip rugs if you do! Little feet (and older feet) can go sliding on a badly placed rug.
