Creating the Ultimate Backyard

Your home's backyard is a place of entertainment for friends and family, as well as an area of rest and relaxation. That's why it's crucial have an attractive and functional backyard that can be enjoyed for a multitude of purposes.  With some preparation, you can turn your backyard into a place of unparalleled beauty by installing a picture-perfect deck, ideal for enjoying the great outdoors right from the comfort and convenience of your own home.

When installing a deck in your home, you'll need to consider your options before going forward. This process entails working with a designer, undergoing a site survey, as well as the final construction. Once your deck is completed you are sure to be satisfied by all it affords, offering a place perfect for large parties and gatherings, as well as quiet dinners for two.

Consultation

Consulting with a designer is the first step to having a custom deck installed in your home. Many companies offer free consultations, perfect for customers who may still be on the fence about their deck installation. From there you can tailor a deck to your specific needs (i.e. renovations to existing decks, installation of a new deck, determining a design plan, etc.), with the assistance of a friendly and knowledgeable designer.

Site Survey

The next step in the process is the on-site survey of your property.  A site survey might include measuring the area of the proposed deck, selecting the exact location, determining the load-bearing capacity of ground where the deck will be installed, as well as going over options for deck access and the like.  A thorough site survey is crucial for the success of future construction.

Design

Backyard decks can be of a simple construction, or they can be an elaborate backyard oasis. By working with top-notch designers, you can create the deck of your dreams. Designers can add on to an existing structure, or help you build a deck from the ground up.

Construction

Once construction gets underway, the right company will ensure the installation process will be fast and efficient. In addition, builders should always conduct themselves in a professional manner while working in your home. This entails respecting your property while installing your deck, as well as keeping to set schedules and deadlines.

When constructing a backyard deck, you want a company with years of experience under their belts, one that offers both highly innovative designs along with the utmost in professionalism. Archadeck has years of experience in the deck-building business, offering top-rate professionalism along with exemplary customer service on each and every project.

  3. I am very excited about the prospect of building our backyard from scratch! I'll have a lot of it, however, so I'll probably try to get the design done professionally, then do a large portion of the work myself...to include special areas for chickens, ducks and all kinds of food! Hard work, but worth it in the end, I'm sure.

  10. In our case we had to get our power/gas/phone/cable wires marked because the junction is right where we were looking to put in a patio, rather than a deck. Great tips!

  13. My backyard is rather shabby and sloping. Plus, it's on the edge of a busy road. We're looking to move soon and one of the biggest deciding factors will be the yard! I cannot wait to have a backyard as lovely as this.

  16. These are all great tips but very expensive. I know, I have priced these out and although it does raise your property value, sometimes it's a choice between the landscape or the kids college. We chose the kids college. So, we have pretty much a mess of a landscape but we're trying to do as much DIY. I always wanted to spend the money on a plan but even that is quite pricey. Wouldn't it be great if we could all just win the lottery! LOL. Great tips though for those who can afford it.

  19. Wow, that backyard is beautiful. However, I would have to do it all on my own within a budget! But alot of those amenities can be done by hard working homeowners. Thanks for the advice.

  30. What a beautiful backyard! I love the idea of a deck, but it can really eat up your backyard if you're working with limited space. I think it can work for anyone, it just takes some planning. And, of course, being able to afford to have it built or to build it yourself!

  32. You might consider finding a student in a landscaping program who might do a plan for a reasonable amount of money.
