Raising a family is no easy task. Amidst
putting food on the table, driving the kids to school and generally keeping on
top of things at home, it can be easy to forget your own needs. Many of us
invest so much time in our children and our families that we don't fulfill our
own personal desires. It doesn't have to be this way though. Read on for the
secret to keeping yourself – as well as your family – happy and content.
Do Away With Routine
Routines are an important part of raising a
family, but they can also get you down. Getting your kids up on time, getting
them to school and making sure there is a hot dinner for them in the evening
are all basic, essential parts of being a good mom. But repeating tasks like
this day in and day out can be harmful to your happiness. Variety is indeed the
spice of life, so try adding some to your day. Instead of cooking the same
meals every week, why not surprise your family by taking them out to dinner, or
trying your hand at a more exotic recipe than you'd usually bring to the table.
Or even better – try to get the kids involved in cooking. Simple culinary tasks
such a making
a pizza from scratch can be fun, healthy and educational.
Keep In Touch With Your Spiritual Side
In the past few decades, religion and
spirituality have well and truly given way to science and technology. But
getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of modern life without keeping in
touch with your spiritual side is a sure fire way to usher in unhappiness. You
don't have to be obsessive about it, but finding a way to connect with your
inner self will make you a far more balanced and content mom. Pastimes such as meditation, tarot,
yoga, Reiki or Astrology are all easily accessible and equally rewarding. If
you're not sure where to begin, Kooma are
a group that offer fantastic guidance for moms who are looking to get in touch
with their spiritual side.
Simple Steps, Great Outcomes
However good a mom you are, there will
always be times when the stresses of raising a family get on top of you. But by
injecting some variety into your life, and finding peace through more spiritual
pursuits, you will far happier and far better equipped to deal with the daily
routines of mommyhood.
I don't understand the "In the past few decades, religion and spirituality have well and truly given way to science and technology."

ReplyDeleteVery true! I notice that we can sometimes get down or in a rut when doing the same hum drum routine..which then causes feeling unappreciated, and many other things that us as females can overthink. Sometimes it's good to just change things up a bit. and the spiritual part is so helpful. It is good to stay in touch with your spiritual side, whatever your beliefs may be. I know many times, it is the only thing that keeps me going and gets me through!
ReplyDeleteI agree. It is very difficult and so often seemingly unappreciated, and the rewards seem to be so far off at times, it can be discouraging. There are way more positive things that happen that give us memories that we cherish forever. I raised three and there were many ups and downs, and there is no way that I would have been able to help them get through their hard times as well as me get through the hard times were it not for my faith and the fact that the Lord never leaves/or left my side or theirs.
DeleteI couldn't agree more. Parenting and single parenting can sure lead to loosing track of what makes us happy individuals. Sometimes I just sit outside and enjoy the sounds and beauty of nature. Renewal really works for me.
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful post here, its so true that often we get caught up in our routine in being a mom or a wife , friend and so on and we can easily forget to take that moment to breath ... thanks for share :)
ReplyDeleteThese are all great tips which can be used for anyone. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteA big thing to remember is that they will only be this age for a short time. Don't sweat the small stuff.
