Christmas Ideas for Outdoor Kids

Do your kids love the outdoors? Do they rush straight to the skate park or the playing field after school instead of home to glue themselves in front of a screen? Well, you're very fortunate. Sadly, many children these days have grown up thinking that exercise means operating their iPhones or gamepads for as long as possible. But if your kids would rather kick a ball or fly a kite than gun down Latino gang members in the latest installment of Grand Theft Auto, you can choose from a whole host of healthy and engaging gifts that you won't feel guilty for giving.

For the Young Explorer

If your son or daughter fancies themselves as the next bush tucker man or crocodile hunter, there are some great options available to you. An outdoor explorer kit from Amazon or eBay will set them up with a whole host of basic tools necessary to have fun in the wilderness; an LED headlamp, magnifying glass, bug checklist and quality carry bag. Or if you figure your child is ready to step into full-on adventurer mode, you may want to up the ante with a set of professional binoculars or maybe even a proper compass so they can find their way through the forest or bush. Of course, if you want to be a little more pragmatic, you can always get them some all terrain clothing and a decent backpack. But you may like to indulge them with something slightly more fun for the festive season!

Boards, Skates and Scooters

Is the skate park or beach your child's second home? Or perhaps they're looking to take up a new hobby that is more active than simply gluing themselves to the nearest computer, iPhone or TV screen? If so, you have a plethora of potential gift ideas readily available in store and online. Skateboarding and Surfing are two of the most popular outdoor activities amongst kids today and have been for some time. Whether its long boarding or short boarding, you'll find countless options available online. Or if your son or daughter would rather stand out from the crowd, you might like to get them some inline skates or even a scooter. These are both equally healthy and fun alternatives that will keep your children both fit and entertained for weeks, months or even years. Again, you can find these in store, but you will almost definitely get a much better deal from an online seller such as The Skate Hut.

The Lucky Minority

If your kids are into the outdoors and physical activity, you are amongst the very fortunate minority as parents. And accordingly, you should nurture your children's love of the outdoors with some great gifts this Christmas.

  11. My daughter has a kid pair of binoculars, and she loves them! Whenever we go bird watching, she uses them! She also likes to take them outside at our house and use them to spot all kinds of wildlife.

  12. We have 14 grandchildren & I feel we are very fortunate in that most of them would prefer to be outside playing rather than stuck in front of the tv or a video gaming device. Yes, they still ask for iPhones, iPads & iPods, but they prefer to be outside.
