  1. You know summer is here and I always struggle to find creative things for the kids to do but these are all fantastic ideas! I love the hummingbird butterfly ideas. Thank you so much for the fantastic ideas!

  2. I encourage the kids to do things around the house and I like the idea of planting a shrub and our fence could use a coat of white paint so I am going to plan on this and let them go at it with brushes.

  3. We love doing outdoor stuff with the kids this time of year. We always get hummingbirds that come to our feeder but I know the kids will get a kick out of planting a plant that they can watch the little birds feed from. Plus, we love to garden and hope to pass that down to the little ones.

  5. Good ideas - a lot of those include things that will reinforce conservation, science, and math concepts, too - bonus!! :)

  6. These are all great ideas!! My kids are grown but I do have a 2 year old granddaughter and she helps me in every way she can. She loves to help me plant my flowers and then every weekend she looks forward to seeing them grow!!

  7. Some great ideas here! I really like the solar lamp one, as it would be both fun to do and there's the immediate gratification of a nicer backyard.

  8. Some neat ideas I can incorporate this summer. I am always trying to figure out activities to do with my son. I am keen on trying to garden- my son would love playing in the dirt.

  10. Wow these are great ideas! Although they might not be suitable for all kids. My aunt's kids are way to hyper to be doing some of these activities but the gardening/weeding sounds like a great fit for them nonetheless! Thanks!

  12. These are wonderful and very useful ideas. Kids are home during the summer. They like being creative and want to help out. This is a great way to get them involved in household projects and to interact with them.

  15. Check with your county or city to see if they have any programs for owner-occupied rehabilitation. Sometimes there are non-profit housing groups that do rehab too.
