How The Average American Spends Their Money #Infographic
With 7 children, a good size home and three cars under my belt, it seems that I am always spending nearly every dime we make. Like most at the end of the month, it is hard to even account for where most of it went. Below is a breakdown to help you see where other {and perhaps yourself} spend some of that hard earned cash. Nice to know I am not the only American who outgoing income is extreme.

We have found budgeting harder the past year. It's interesting to see the break down of the average spending!
ReplyDeleteWell, if you would ask my boyfriend if we spend too much money, he would say YES!! But I really dont think we do at all. Havent been on vacation in like 10 years, sometimes go to the thrift store for clothes and I use lots of coupons in the grocery store!!
ReplyDeleteI just realized we're spending too much on clothes and personal care products since we spend a whole lot more than the average. I got to monitor these things from now on.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. I know where I spend my money and it's not where it should be.
ReplyDeleteWow, this was really cool to see this way. We really do spend a lot of money on a wide variety of things, don't we?
ReplyDeleteMy son is working full time and going to college full time. He doesn't want a huge payment from student loans
ReplyDeletethis is all very good info
ReplyDeleteI never realized how many different things we spend money on. This helps me to realize how much I can save!
ReplyDeleteRealizing how much stuff I spend my money on really helps me realize how much money I can save.
ReplyDeletewow. i love having this all mapped out visually - i always thought i was pretty frugal (cuz i'm poor and have to be) but didn't realize how much less i'm buying than other people - most these categories i have a whopping zero spent... groceries i'm right at the average... and i've always thought i eat out way too much, but apparently i really don't! i'm seriously wondering, though, why my telecommunications rate is 5x that of average folks... and the laundromat really bumps my laundry spending up there.
ReplyDeleteanyway, thanks for sharing this!
We work hard at surviving on one income with four people living here. Granted we don't own a house, have secondhand vehicle that was purchased three years ago and is paid off. Prior to that we used transit or walked/took a taxi. But yes, it can be very easy to be overextended.
ReplyDeleteI love these info graphics. They always amaze me. I can't believe how much money we spend on some of these items. I always have a hard time at the end of the month knowing where all our money has gone. I now have a better idea. thanks!

ReplyDeleteInfo graphics are awesome! They make everything so easy to understand and really give you an idea about the bigger picture.
ReplyDeleteI noticed groceries was one of the highest and even though I use coupons I think the price of food is ridiculous so this year I'm putting in a large garden of raised beds. Even though I don't come close to spending the averages that they have above because I don't have that kind of money to spend I found it to be interesting and it makes me more aware of my own spending. I'm really frugal and shop lots of thrift shops and coupons on everything.
ReplyDeleteInteresting graph. We are a family of four living on one income with no credit cards so if we don't have the money we don't buy it (except for our house) Our son is living at home instead of the dorms to save money. He doesn't want to come out of school with a lot of debt.
ReplyDeleteWow, this was eye opening. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love this it is so neat to see how we all spend our money, we have paid off all our credit cards and only buy with cash now, I love Dave Ramsey!!
ReplyDeleteI think we spend more on pets then it say up there.
ReplyDeleteI like this infographic so I can compare how much I spend with the average. I realize I need to cut back in some areas.
